Background: The Yavapai Family Advocacy Center (YFAC) was formed in 2000 as a project of Prevent Child Abuse Arizona as a solution for the lack of services for victims of abusive crimes in Yavapai County, especially children. YFAC’s mission is to reduce trauma to victims by providing a safe and supportive environment and facilitate a team approach to advocacy, investigation, and prosecution. The multidisciplinary team including YFAC Advocates and Forensic staff, Law Enforcement Officers, Department of Child Safety, Yavapai County Attorneys and Mental & Medical Health Professionals, provides a coordinated response to both adults and children of interpersonal violent crimes including domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual assault, and abuse. YFAC provided services to about 900 new victims in Yavapai County last year alone. The team is dedicated to providing the first step towards help, hope, and healing.
